Download and open the DMG. Drag DevNotify to Applications. First launch: right-click the app and choose Open (it isn't notarized yet).

Create a GitLab personal access token. In GitLab go to User Settings → Access Tokens, create a token with the read_api scope.

In DevNotify, pick GitLab as your platform, paste the token and save. Your unread to-do count appears in the menu bar and refreshes every minute.

FAQ

Does this work with GitLab's to-dos or its email notifications?

DevNotify uses GitLab's official to-do list API — the same items you see under the bell icon on gitlab.com: review requests, assignments, mentions, pipeline failures on your MRs. It doesn't touch your email settings.

Does my token leave my Mac?

No. It is stored locally by the app and used only to call gitlab.com directly from your machine.

"App can't be opened" on first launch

The DMG isn't signed with an Apple Developer certificate yet. Right-click DevNotify.app → Open → Open. You only have to do this once.

Can I use it with GitHub as well?

Yes — switch platform in Preferences and paste a GitHub token instead. One app covers both.

What does the trial include?

Everything. Full functionality for 7 days. After that, a $19 lifetime license unlocks it permanently.
